About This Project

This site started with curiosity. Why do prices change overnight? Why do people fight instead of cooperate? Why does your brain trick you into decisions you later regret? How does the human world actually work, beneath the surface?

The answers are out there, scattered across psychology textbooks, economics papers, political theory, and game theory. But they're rarely presented in a way that connects to the things you actually wonder about on a Tuesday afternoon. This site tries to bridge that gap: real concepts, explained through real examples, without the academic fog.

There are no ads here. No donation buttons. No paywalls. This is not a business. It is a genuine attempt to help curious people understand the systems that shape their daily lives: from the price at the gas station to the news on their screen to the decisions in their own head.

Where simplifications are made, they are made honestly. Human systems are messy and contested in ways the natural sciences are not. On contested questions, the site presents the strongest version of each serious position - including the one I find least intuitive - and lets the reader form their own view. The goal is clarity, not ideology.

A note on perspective. I grew up in a post-Soviet country and moved to the United States in my mid-twenties - by now I have lived about as long here as I lived there. Long enough in each to know the difference as a resident rather than as a tourist. That dual experience informs most of what appears here, especially where it touches trust, institutions, or the shape of power. It does not make me objective; nothing does. It does mean the default lens of any single political tradition is not the only one this site can see through.

I have my own opinions on every topic covered here. The work is to keep them from running the page - to fight my own preconceptions, look at things calmly, understand what is actually going on underneath, and explain in plain language what I came to understand.

One more thing worth being upfront about. This site is the work of one person, with substantial help from modern AI models. They drafted prose, surfaced research and examples I would not have stumbled across alone, suggested connections between fields, and helped argue both sides of contested topics. A project covering this much ground, written and produced alone, would have been close to impossible. Every page was inspected, corrected, and reshaped before it landed here, and the line between what I wrote and what came from a model is not always clean. The result is genuinely shared work. I would rather say that plainly than dress it up.

Take this as a small sign of what the moment makes possible. A single curious person, paired with the right tools, can now build something that used to require a team. If there is an idea you have been quietly carrying, a thing you have always wanted to see exist in the world, this might be the moment to start. The friction is lower than it has ever been. Make the thing.

Thank you for visiting. Take your time. Explore at your own pace. I hope you leave with a slightly better understanding of the world you navigate every day.

You might want to share feedback, a suggestion, or even just a kind word. I appreciate that. For now, there is no contact form or comment section here. I prefer to work on this project at my own pace, fitting it around everything else in life. If something here helped you understand the world a little better, that alone is more than enough.
